Did you watch the Oscars? I was surprised to see Jennifer Aniston. I mean, Angelina was also present and I think they’ve been avoiding each other for the longest time. So, is this the first time that they both attended the same event? And they were both with their partners. Of course, Brad was there for the movie Benjamin Button and Angelina for Changeling. Anyway, Jennifer seemed nervous and I don’t know what Angelina must have felt when she saw Jennifer walking on the stage. I heard that the list of presenters was all hush-hush and not even the media knew about it. Were they both surprised to see each other?
By the way, I’m a huge Jennifer Aniston fan. And ever since Jolie and Pitt hooked up, I vowed never to watch another Angelina movie. Sorry to fans of Angelina.

Do you ever wonder why Kris Aquino gets all the nice career opportunities, jobs and endorsements? Well, I do. She was recently chosen to be side by side with Howie Mendel to host Deal or No Deal in the Philippines. That’s a given. But just recently, she launched her limited Philip Stein watch. This is a first for Philip Stein watch. Getting a celebrity endorser and making a watch under a celebrity’s name. I mean, Philip Stein. One of Oprah’s fave things. Why not Oprah? Why Kris Aquino?’
I have nothing against Kris Aquino. I’m not a fan or anything. I don’t even watch Channel 2. I think she’s really average when it comes to acting and hosting? Does she even dance? Sing? See, she does not have that many talents. And she doesn’t even excel in what she really does. A point of comparison is Lea Salonga. Lea Salonga is talented and world-class.
Perhaps, it’s the family background. A national hero for a father and an ex-Philippine president for a mother. Wow. That’s huge. That’s quite an “accomplishment”.
I should stop. I’m just wondering. I have talents, too. And I think I’m better-looking than Kris. Ahem. Ahem. No, really? I blame my parents for this. Why didn’t my father run for president? If my father became president, I could be the next big endorser. Or if my mother finished college and joined a beauty pageant and won top title, then, I would have gotten into film-making and made lead role. The title of my first film project might have been, “The Goddess Bitch”.
No, really? Do you think it’s possible? I think it is. Do you get my point?

These past few days I’ve been consumed with this overwhelming feeling of calm. We had lunch at Pho Hoa on Easter Sunday. We originally wanted to have lunch at this rave of the moment Thai resto called Som’s but there was no parking available so we ended up having Vietnamese that day. And I was really glad we did. Not that the food was extraordinary, it was just ok actually. But we met Fr. Jerry Orbos. This was in between noodles and fresh spring rolls.
He was eating alone. As he was about to pay for his bill, the waiter told him that it was already paid for by the family at the next table. He said thank you and joined them for a little conversation. He stood up after awhile and greeted everyone he passed, Happy Easter. But upon reaching our table, he sat down and talked to my daughter. He asked her how old she was and my kid answered four. He asked us how we were as if we we’re not strangers to him. And I was also surprised that out of all the people there, he spent time with us. He must have sensed that I need a little bit of help. I am a sinner and a good one at that. It was just all small talk but it made an impact on me. I wanted to cry but I held back. I don’t know why I felt that way. I think that’s how you feel being in the presence of someone “holy”. It felt so good. Have you ever felt this way?
Fr. Jerry Orbos writes for the Philippine Daily Inquirer. He still presides Healing Masses and leads pilgrimage visits to the Holy Land, Fatima, Medjugorje and other Marian shrines. He has been reminding the people through his homily, newspaper column and radio and TV programs this constant message: God Bless You, Mama Mary Loves You!”

I found this clothing line in my search for eco-friendly clothes. But most clothes are geared towards kids. So I was kinda envious when I came across KiceKice because the kid’s clothes look so comfortable and “cool” to wear. Much like being a bohemian princess.

This line consists of a unique selection of hand-appliqued dresses, t-shirts and complimenting pair of pants made with 100% organic cotton. These playful clothes are comfortable for children to run, play and dance.
Kice Kice is a partnership between twin sisters, Lesley Nishigawara and Karen Kice, both artists and environmentally and socially responsible people. The clothing line uses high quality organic fabrics and supports fair labor practices. The clothing line’s inspiration is children. And I think they have captured the innocence and the playful nature of children in their clothes. The designs are so carefree and unique.
Creating cute pieces and being aware of environmental issues are admirable traits, don’t you think? Visit kicekice.com.

Tomorrow is the boxing rematch of Filipino, Manny Pacquiao and Mexican, Juan Manuel Marquez. I’m not sure what happens in Mexico when a major boxing match is held. But here in the Philippines, almost everyone is tuned in to watch especially if it’s Manny Pacquiao. As if the world stops for a few hours and everyone is holding their breath.
What’s even more amazing is crime rate is decreased. I guess the criminals are boxing fanatics, too. I wish I can say the same for our government. Our officials, I hope, would be glued to the TV set so they could forget for awhile how to steal millions from the Filipino people. Well, if only Manny can fight everyday, crime rate and corruption would be lessened.
I hope Manny wins. He needs this badly more than anything in the world now. He’s had a good share of bad publicity starting with being linked to other women, producing a movie that flopped at the tills, being branded as ungrateful and arrogant (fame and fortune have gotten into his head, apparently). He even ran for Congress but he lost. He probably thought that popularity would win him a Congressional seat or he could box his way to Congress.
Whatever happens tomorrow, it will definitely be a good fight and good TV time. Place your bets now
