dailies: butt slippers

I was watching Boy & Kris this morning when I heard Kris Aquino mention something about one of Oprah’s Favorite Things. It was a pair of slippers called Fitflops and it’s supposed to help tone and trim your legs and bum every step you take. It has something to do with the midsole and how it’s engineered.

So MG and I went to Trinoma to buy a pair. Anything that would make my lower body in shape, I’d try. I’ll be putting these slippers to the test this weekend when I have all the time in the world to walk and go malling.

product of the day: goji juice

Have you tried Goji juice? Out of all the health juices I’ve tried in the past, this one really worked for me. Just drinking 4 ounces of this a day made a difference in my overall health. I had more energy. I slept like a baby and I felt good generally. Are you a health buff? Then you must include Goji in your health regimen. By the way, it tastes good, too.

product of the day: clipper cutting videos

I know how to cut and style hair. I studied hair-cutting and coloring two years ago and it was such a challenge. I never thought I could even hold a pair of scissors properly. But as with any other skill, I got better with practice. I started with the basic blunt cut for girls and graduated knowing at least 10 variations of the layered look. And I found out that it’s easier to accomplish cuts for long hair than shorter or crop styles. And what I hated the most was cutting men’s hair especially around the ears. My hands always shake and my comb always fall whenever I try to cut men’s hair. But clipper cutting is different. Even when you use it near the ears. It has safety features, I guess, so you’ll never accidentally cut your client’s ears.

And there are more clipper cutting techniques. You can play around with different styles. One can go traditional or avant-garde. Whatever your client wants. This tool is so versatile. Watch the clipper cutting videos here and you can buy the DVD from videoshelf.com.

i love sunglasses

It’s that time of the year again when people, especially women, go nuts about shopping and literally empty their bank accounts. Christmas is just around the corner, if you haven’t noticed it yet. As much as I want to update my wardrobe, I can’t and I don’t want to. I don’t want to buy a new set of outfit in my present weight. I would update my clothing once I lose the extra ten pounds. That’s a promise I made to myself just recently.

I would rather go out and spend money on accessories. I love accessories, and nothing does it like a new pair of sunglasses. You see, it’s summer all year round here in our side of the planet. That’s why a pair or two of sunglasses is a must here. I especially love aviators. They may be considered men’s sunglasses but that’s in the past. Now, a woman can wear it and pair it with any wardrobe. And you can never imagine the magic it does to any drab outfit. It’s super. I also fancy sunglasses with sleek metal frames. They look very stylish, and they fit any face shapes very well, even my round face.

I love huge women’s sunglasses. The ones that take over half of your face. They are still so in! The style is reminiscent of the Jackie-O era. Although over-sized, it frames the face beatifully and elegantly. It’s hard to not think of your favorite celebrities and fashion icons and not think of what sunglasses they are sporting.

Whatever the purpose of buying a pair of sunglasses–protection from the sun, glamor and style or adding to your collection–make sure you buy something that makes you feel more confident and happy. And more importantly, buy from reputable online shops that carry original designer brands at reasonable prices. Sunglassesonline.com has a wide array of sunglasses to choose from.

My Moleskine

This came via door to door express today. My first Moleskine. I’ve been dying to have one of these and it’s a good thing it’s now available in the Philippines through this website.

Moleskine \mol-a-skeen-a\ is the heir of the legendary notebook used for the past two centuries by great artists and thinkers, including Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, André Breton, Ernest Hemingway and Bruce Chatwin.

The little black Moleskine notebook, with its rounded corners, elastic closure and expandable inner pocket, was originally produced by small French bookbinders and were then supplied to Parisian stationery shops frequented by the international literary and artistic set. It was actually a nameless object.

In the mid-1980s, however, the original manufacturer closed down - the notebook was no longer available. One of its patrons, Bruce Chatwin, stocked up on his favorite notebook and bought up all stocks that he could find. In his book, Songlines, Bruce Chatwin tells the whole story of his favorite notebook, which he nicknamed ‘Moleskine.’ This is where the notebook probably got its name.

Moving on to 1998, a small talian publisher, brought the notebook back again, taking the name Moleskine from Chatwin’s book. Since then, the Moleskine has traveled the world and has enjoyed extraordinary popularity. With its various page styles, ruled, graph or plain paper, the adventure and tradition will continue to be passed on from one hand to the next.

Here are samples of the many things you can do with your Moleskine:

Maybe Worth Another Trip

Yesterday we went to Tagaytay to try out Bawai’s, a place that offers Vietnamese food. It’s the buzz of the town. It was featured in Yummy magazine and other bloggers have written good reviews about it. Sad to say, it was a disappointing experience for us. I mean, we’ve had better Vietnamese meal experience. The Vietnamese restaurant in Laguna near UP is way more delicious even without the aircon or other necessities like comfortable chairs and good service. You really go there just for the food, not the ambience.

But with Bawai’s, the interior, the service, the people, are awesome. But the food is just so-so. The star of Bawai’s Vietnamese Cusine is not the food but the gay guy who made extra effort to make us feel at home and comfortable. If only for him, perhaps, another visit wouldn’t hurt.

We ordered the ff:
Goi Cuon
Cha Gio
Chao Tom
Bung Bo Xao (Beef with dry rice noodles)
Bung Tom (Seafood with Dry Rice Noodles)
