golf becomes me

I love nature and I enjoy walking. That’s why golf would have been a suitable sport for me except that I am not a big fan of the sun and the freckles it tends to give me. But I’m not saying that I won’t try the sport ever especially now that Platzreife is offered in some golf membership clubs around the globe. I could finally learn the basics of golf–from swinging, putting, pitching, chipping and some other techniques. Golfkurs also teaches not only rules and etiquette, but also the behavior on the golf course which is extremely important. Besides, they don’t call golf a gentleman’s sport for nothing. Best of all, I get to use the golf range for free.

I think men are much more inclined to play golf than women. Men don’t care about the sun, the sweat and the occasional inconveniences. They like the walk, they like the talk. How many business deals have been closed in a round or two of golf? Countless, I guess. My uncles love to play the sport and they would even go to faraway places just to have a round of golf. I guess, the travel or the drive is part of the fun. And expect a lot of enthusiasts to converge at golf courses during Golfurlaub. This is the summit of all their golf actvities wherein every single golfer breathes, talks, and does nothing but golf. All day and all night. I just wish I could participate some time and get that sun-kissed look finally. I guess I can start playing golf once my kid goes to school for longer periods of time.

Actually, if I want to be serious about this, I should just go on over to this Golfakademie-gmbh.de which features everything golf. Bags, trolleys, clubs, drivers, putters and the most number of brands, like Ping and Callaway, all in one site.

photo of the day: the beach

yes, I want to go to the beach every weekend.
yes, I wish I had a beach house.
yes, I love the beach but not the sun.
yes, I want everything including the flying plastic bags.
yes, a beach is not a beach without the flying yellow bags.
happy weekend, people.
wherever you are.

dailies: butt slippers

I was watching Boy & Kris this morning when I heard Kris Aquino mention something about one of Oprah’s Favorite Things. It was a pair of slippers called Fitflops and it’s supposed to help tone and trim your legs and bum every step you take. It has something to do with the midsole and how it’s engineered.

So MG and I went to Trinoma to buy a pair. Anything that would make my lower body in shape, I’d try. I’ll be putting these slippers to the test this weekend when I have all the time in the world to walk and go malling.

photo story: chinese new year ritual

On the eve of Chinese New Year, I went to Charms & Crystals to purchase charm bracelets for my mom and sister. A relative was going to the US and I asked my uncle to bring pasalubong for them. They’re into this sort of thing. They actually believe in Feng Shui but they’re not fanatics like someone I know who can’t move and do things without consulting her feng shui master.

Anyway, the place was filled with ‘believers’. Joy Lim was there to give advice and tips on what rituals to do on new year’s eve. To make the long story short, I left the place with my own charm bracelet, a wishing paper, incense and cleansing soap to wash away bad luck or bad chi. I became a convert. Is that bad?

we arrived at 2pm with 5 or 7 people ahead of me. an hour after, it was finally my turn.
i bought this wishing paper. this serves as the envelope to wrap all your wishes inside.

which i did on a whole sheet of white bond paper. it has to be white and the other side should be left blank. i had 9 specific wishes total. by the way, your wishes should be specific. good health, new business etcetera are not specifics.
i took a bath first before i started writing. an incense should be lit while writing down your wishes. and all these steps should be done before 12 midnight because
at midnight or even just minutes after midnight, you have to burn the paper with your wishes inside. it has to be done outside where the ashes could fly freely. not in your garage, not inside the house nor inside your room.

Now, I’ll let you know next year if my wishes were actually granted. Haha…

late night ramblings

Oh, it’s Friday soon. I’ll be in bed all Saturday morning. Sleep sleep sleep, then I shall go to my cousin’s wedding in the afternoon. I will put on makeup, probably black around the eyes and put on 3-inch heels until I have sore feet I couldn’t stand anymore. Eat my heart out because I know food would be great and listen to some nostalgic tunes because it’s a wedding. Someone has to cry, right? Tears of joy….I hope.

a dash of salt

I think I’ve eaten everything salty today. For breakfast, I had Cheetos and coffee. Nice combination, right? You should try it. Lunch was pepper steak at Trinoma with extra rice and extra teriyaki sauce. More like soup in my case. Snack was a bit healthy. It was a banana and I didn’t put salt on it. And lastly, I had monggo soup for dinner with a good serving of Spanish chorizo and Cheetos again for dessert. No wonder my head aches.

dailies: random things

It seems most of the people I know are getting hitched. My cousin is getting married this Saturday and I have nothing to wear. A recurring problem that never seems to go away. I gained about 8lbs. after the holidays. And nothing fits again. Too late for a weight loss program. I don’t want to buy a new wardrobe because I’m trying to cut down on expenses. Part of my clever new year’s resolutions. And because of this. I’m just trying to write down anything that goes into my preoccupied mind. And today is my dad’s birthday. He has a party later but I might not go. Again, nothing to wear. Same old problem that will forever stay.
