A Hero, A President & One Lucky Gal

Do you ever wonder why Kris Aquino gets all the nice career opportunities, jobs and endorsements? Well, I do. She was recently chosen to be side by side with Howie Mendel to host Deal or No Deal in the Philippines. That’s a given. But just recently, she launched her limited Philip Stein watch. This is a first for Philip Stein watch. Getting a celebrity endorser and making a watch under a celebrity’s name. I mean, Philip Stein. One of Oprah’s fave things. Why not Oprah? Why Kris Aquino?’

I have nothing against Kris Aquino. I’m not a fan or anything. I don’t even watch Channel 2. I think she’s really average when it comes to acting and hosting? Does she even dance? Sing? See, she does not have that many talents. And she doesn’t even excel in what she really does. A point of comparison is Lea Salonga. Lea Salonga is talented and world-class.

Perhaps, it’s the family background. A national hero for a father and an ex-Philippine president for a mother. Wow. That’s huge. That’s quite an “accomplishment”.

I should stop. I’m just wondering. I have talents, too. And I think I’m better-looking than Kris. Ahem. Ahem. No, really? I blame my parents for this. Why didn’t my father run for president? If my father became president, I could be the next big endorser. Or if my mother finished college and joined a beauty pageant and won top title, then, I would have gotten into film-making and made lead role. The title of my first film project might have been, “The Goddess Bitch”.

No, really? Do you think it’s possible? I think it is. Do you get my point?

  1. You’re funny, :) There is always a benefit of being a daughter or son of “Somebody” but What i always admire are those people that have manage to separate themselves and make a name on their own.

  3. Oh! But I am a Fan and a Subscriber to Kris’ Magazine (she has one, lol). I think it’s remarkable that someone like Kris who ranted on TV of how she grabbed an ex’s balls (joey marquez) and confessed as being the most stupid in terms of choice of lovers in the past could endorse something and everyone will buy it. I use White Cat and San-San, thanks for asking. XD

I think it’s the demeanor more than the family background. Head up, devil may care attitude. That, and her direct and insightful approach to things not related to her love life.

HAHA. My blog will probably reek of “vote for Kris” when time comes that she runs for the senate.

Please don’t hate me for loving Kris. :D

  4. @iris, there’s really a benefit but a few never really “use” that privilege. They would rather remain anonymous until they’ve proven something and people would just realize that, “isn’t she the daughter of someone, someone?”

Kris, on the other hand, made use of her family before she even got somewhere. Till now, IMO, she hasn’t proven anything yet. She’s just known as the girl who speaks her mind when she should just shut up and be humble like her mom.

@pinay mommy, glad it made you laugh. Will follow up on project ex-links. thanks.

@evilwoobie, of course, I won’t hate you for loving Kris. In fact, I find her amusing sometimes. We’re all entitled to our opinions, right?

And yes I agree that anything she endorses would be a hit. People find her honest and true because she talks about her life in public without leaving anything behind. That’s the reward, I guess.

But I find that a bit insensitive. Cause there are other people involved in every story, like her family, her sons. It’s notall about her. These people could be hurt or affected, at the very least, by the very honest revelations she always shares with the public.
